Last month, Pink schooled body-shamers on Twitter for making negative remarks about her weight in regards to a red-carpet photo of her at an event. Now, the star is explaining why promoting an anti-bullying message in today’s society is a cause close to her heart.

“I don’t take well to bullying,” she told Entertainment Tonight on the carpet at Tuesday’s BMI Pop Awards, with husband Carey Hart standing at her side. “I never have. I’m not a person that will be bullied. I’m not a person that will stand by watching other people bullied.”
The 35-year-old singer, who famously stripped down for PEOPLE’s 2014 Most Beautiful issue, also explained that while she puts on a strong front and still feels great in her own skin, it’s not easy for her to take the harsh comments.
“I am a girl, I have feelings and people think I take no s— and I’m tough, tougher than nails, but I’m a human being,” she said.

But she wanted to remind her haters that she still doesn’t take their rude remarks too seriously. “I don’t care. My life is full, I like food a lot and I really like to cook, I like to live, I find joy in that, and we’re doing all right in the Hart household.”
